The free counselling offered in 'El Alfarero - Student Centre' is Bible-based.

Biblical counselling, while not discounting secular counselling and all the advances that it has brought us, considers secular counselling to be inadequate for dealing with the majority of human problems.

Secular counselling uses psychology as its basis and deals with the mind. Biblical counselling draws on psychology, but rather has the Bible as its basis, and deals with the human heart.

Secular counselling is good at helping us realize what our problem is and why we are the way we are, but is often limited in how far it enables us to change the way we are.

Biblical counselling, however, after showing us the way we are, demonstrates our need of God's power in our lives and ultimately leads us to the feet of Christ to find that power.

Secular counselling cannot change the human heart, but Christ can, and ultimately all problems will need his power to find their solution.

Trained counsellors are available on-site to give qualified help, support, prayer and a listening ear. A network of professionals is available to give free or low-cost help. These include Christian doctors and lawyers, a Christian clinic, laboratory and pharmacy and a hostel for alcoholics.
